The Setup

Before Aaru, Cameron stacked small, credibility-rich bets: founding crypto and health-tech projects, joining Z Fellows, and landing a Kleiner Perkins Founder Fellow slot while briefly at Dartmouth.

That pattern matters because by the time he and his co-founders dropped out to launch Aaru in March 2024, he already looked like a repeat experimenter who could sit across from enterprise CMOs, not just a teenager with a demo.

02

The Mechanism

1. They sold an outcome, not a model: Aaru was framed as a faster, cheaper replacement for surveys and focus groups, with AI agents that let brands test campaigns or product ideas in hours instead of commissioning a study that took weeks.

2. Distribution came from partnering where budget already sits, co-authoring thought leadership with strategy firms and running bespoke “magic trick” simulations for big-brand prospects so the first interaction with Aaru was seeing their own customer problems solved.

3. That wedge into enterprise research budgets, paired with a clear “synthetic panel” narrative and visible backing from top-tier investors, let them raise a Series A at a $1B valuation while revenue was still sub-scale.
